dancescience.net is a network of dance educators who aspire to safeguard the health and improve the performance of dancers through educational seminars, workshops and consultancy. Their services offer the latest research in the field of sports and dance medicine and science combined with a holistic mind/body approach.

Our qualified staff have years of experience in performing and teaching. We have worked with and for Laban, London Contemporary Dance School, University of Wolverhampton, Università di Cagliari, University UAH in Madrid, APDCM, Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS), DanceUK and more.

We continuously learn and share knowledge from the scientific research in sports and dance medicine and science, from the holistic traditional Chinese medicine point of view, from the diverse somatic techniques, first of all, Yoga, from the direct experience of being dancers ourselves, and from the experience of working with dancers, and understanding their needs. We have a comprehensive and open-minded approach to dance enhancement.

Beatriz Pascual

Classical ballet dancer graduated from the Escuela Reál de Artes Dramatico (Madrid), Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® official Pre-trainer and Master teacher, founder of the first London Gyrotonic studio. She performed in Spain, Belgium, South Africa, the UK, Japan, France and the USA in various companies as a guest artist and has been teaching ballet for six years in London, Spain and Japan.

 

Cheryl Cowan

Cheryl Cowan, was for two decades a professional dancer in Switzerland with the Geneva Ballet and the Zurich Opera and has taught dance in both Switzerland and England. She is a qualified Feldenkrais practitioner, holds an MSc in Dance Science and has taught at both Birkbeck College and at Laban in London. Cheryl is also a trained remedial sports massage therapist and is a member of the British Complementary Medicine Association.

 

Emanuela Iacopini

MSc, BSc, founder of dancescience.net, lecturer in dance science at the Conservatoire de Musique in Luxembourg city, Yoga teacher affiliated to the Institute of Complementary Medicine in the UK. Currently working in performance and education across Europe. In 2004 she presented her work at the 14th Annual Meeting of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science in San Francisco (USA).

 

Ken Eyerman

Movement therapist formed in dance, psychology, and Awareness Through Movement and as a Feldenkrais practitioner. Founder of the Ken Eyerman School of Bodywork and Movement affiliated to the Institute of Complementary Medicine. Ken has worked as a bodyworker and a teacher at the Esalen Institute in California and at the London Contemporary Dance School as a bodyworker in residence.

 

 

Manuela Angioi

MSc, I.S.E.F., Diploma in Performance dance studies. Co-founder of dancescience.net, ballet teacher and sports scientist specialized in anthropometry. Lecturer in theory and methodology of individual sports at the University of Cagliari (Italy) she presented her research at the IADMS 2004 Annual Meeting in San Francisco (USA) which is due to be published in the Journal of Dance Medicine and Science.

 

 

Matthew Wyon

PhD, CSCS, senior lecturer in exercise physiology, course leader for the Masters in Dance Science and director of studies for research degrees at the University of Wolverhampton, UK. Exercise physiologist for the Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National ballet, he sits on the Medical Advisory Committee of Dance UK and he has served on the Board of Directors of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS). He is author of numerous publications in the Journal of Dance Medicine and Science.
